Locations

Machesney Park, IL

A village that grew from unincorporated subdivisions into an official municipality in 1985, along the Route 251 corridor north of Loves Park.

A younger housing stock than Rockford's core

Because Machesney Park largely developed through the 1960s, 70s, and 80s rather than in the early 1900s, most of the village's roofs are on standard suburban framing with more consistent, moderate pitches — fewer of the steep, complex rooflines you'll find on older bungalows closer to central Rockford. That doesn't mean less risk, though: a roof installed in the 1980s or 90s is now well past its practical service life in this climate, even if the original shingles were rated for 25–30 years.

The Rock River side of the village

The village runs along both sides of the Rock River, and homes closer to the water tend to see more tree cover than the Route 251 commercial corridor — which means more gutter debris and a higher chance of moss or algae streaking on north-facing roof slopes that stay shaded longer through the day.

Nearby coverage

We also cover Loves Park immediately to the south and Rockford further along the river.

Roof from the 80s or 90s still going?

Worth an inspection to see where it actually stands. Written report, photos included.
